Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ctmoldman1@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Microscopic organisms found both indoors and outdoors.  Mold is dependent on moisture, and is incapable of colonizing without it. Moisture within our homes can come from excessive humidity, condensation, leaks, poor ventilation, improper bathroom venting, or a host of other conditions.

If you have mold in your home, a couple of specific things had to have happened for it to appear.

  • Moisture: humidity levels are above 47%
  • Temperature: 0 to 35 degree centigrade range
  • Food for the Mold: Paper, Wallpaper, Wallboard, Sugars, Fabrics, Wood, and Dust

Mold typically has an earthy/musty odor. If you can smell it, chances are mold is present. It comes in all shapes, colors, and sizes. If you find mold, give us a call to check it out to determine the severity of it.

This depends on the type of mold. Some molds may simply be inconvenient, causing things like sneezing and runny noses while others are toxic.

It is always best to have mold removed by the professionals. However, based on this classification, Level I infestations on non porous surfaces (i.e: tile, countertops, porcelain) can be removed by the homeowner. Improper cleaning of the mold can lead to further infestation, with risk to the occupants even after the mold is "dead".

Level I: < 10 sq feet

Level II: 10 to 30 sq feet

Level III: 30 to 100 sq feet

Level IV: > 100 sq feet

**Infestations equal to Level II and above must be handled by the professionals.**
